This self-titled album (Amazon)(iTunes) was getting lots of buzz earlier in the year just before it's release in February. They'll be playing in Chapel Hill on Monday.
The Pains of Being Pure At Heart - Young Adult Friction
Passion Pit - The Reeling
The new video from Passion Pit is of a song off of their first full length album. The Chunk Of Change EP showed lots of promise, and based on what has been released so far, the full length should build on that. The full album will be released Manners (Amazon) on May 19th
Stereogum today linked to a good remix from Calvin "I like them carrying a little-bitty weight girls" Harris. Here's the link
The Knife - Heartbeats
M83 - We Own The Sky
I realize I just posted some M83, but I figured since I finally found a link to the new video that I would post again. Like I said, this was my favorite album from last year, so it deserves extra special treatment from my perspective.
This entry was the winner in the contest to be the official video for We Own The Sky, and was ultimately selected Anthony Gonzalez himself. While I think it was a fine selection, the song itself outshines the visuals, so do yourself a favor and get Saturdays=Youth (Amazon) (iTunes)
The Delve Player doesn't come through on some RSS readers, so here is also a link to the youtube version.
Mastodon - Oblivion
I'm a big fan of Mastodon. I think their new album Crack The Skye (Amazon) (iTunes) is amazing, but in my ears these guys can do no wrong. I enjoy that they change their sound somewhat with every album. I'll be seeing them when they come to town in May, so needless to say I'm excited!
Also if you're a fan of the Mastodon album artwork, most of it has been done by Paul Romano www.workhardened.com
M83 - Graveyard Girl
The album Saturdays = Youth was definitely my favorite release from 2008, and that says a lot considering there was plenty to choose from last year. M83 recently released the video for We Own The Sky, but I can't seem to get a good link to the winning video (they held a contest), so instead we have Graveyard Girl, which also happens to be my personal fav from Saturdays = Youth (Amazon) (iTunes)
Bat for Lashes - Daniel
The Black Pine - Goodbye Hollywood Forever
This band hasn't really gotten as much press or attention as I think they deserve. Then again, I'm not sure their genre holds much mainstream appeal. Nice cameo in this video by Adam Goldberg. The full album Still Life (iTunes) was released last year. I don't think they sell it on Amazon, so I don't have a link for that.
Passion Pit - Sleepyhead
Horsepower Productions - Damn It
Liking it. This single has two songs on it Kingstep / Damn it (iTunes)
This video is mislabeled as the song Kingstep, but it's actually the song Damn it
Filthy Dukes - This Rythm
This track has been out for a few months, but their album Nonsense in the Dark (Amazon) just released in late March. I had to import it from the UK, and just received it in the mail earlier in the week.
St. Vincent - Actor Out of Work
I like this new song from St. Vincent.
Her sophomore album Actor (Amazon) is scheduled to be released on May 5th.
Bloc Party - Intimacy
Bloc Party is one of my favorite bands, and I think the album they released last October called Intimacy (Amazon) (iTunes) is just excellent. Here are the videos from some of the singles released so far.
Bloc Party - Talons
Bloc Party - Mercury
The song Mercury is probably not going to be everyone's favorite on the album, but it's mine.
Phoenix - 1901
This album, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (Amazon) will be released in late may. You can currently get an EP of some songs that will make the album including this one on (iTunes)
Apparently they played on SNL a week or two ago. I had no idea because my DVR is currently not all setup after I moved and got a new box. That exposure should hopefully get them sales, although I would have pushed up the albums release if I was the record company, because by late May that buzz might die down some.
Klaxons - Golden Skans
I wish these guys would put out a new album. It's been about 2 years since the release of Myths of the Near Future (iTunes), but I still enjoy it. This particular song has been remixed a ton, but the original is one of the best versions.
I also like the Sebastian version from his Remixes album (Amazon) (Listen)
MGMT Remixes
On the heels of yesterdays Justice remix post, I decided to keep that trend going with more good remixes. These are probably my favorite two from last year's hyped and well publicized album Oracular Spectacular from MGMT (Amazon) (iTunes). That album was remixed to death last year, yet it's no surprise that these two are standouts considering they are from Justice and Soulwax, who are excellent French and Belgian (respestively) artists.
Electric Feel (Justice Remix) (iTunes)
Original version of Electric Feel (YouTube)
Kids (Soulwax Remix) (iTunes)
Original version of Kids (YouTube)
As much as I love Justice, I think I like the remix of Kids better.
U2 - Get On Your Boots (Justice Remix)
A new Justice remix. I heard this a couple days ago, and I wasn't sure if it was actually the real deal. It has that Justice sound stamped on the U2 single from their No Line On The Horizon album (Amazon) (iTunes). I don't think you can purchase this remix anywhere yet, so I don't have a link for that.

Empire Of The Sun - Walking On A Dream
Van She - Strangers
I really like the Van She album V, and wish it would be released in the states. Their self-titled Van-She EP (iTunes) was good but the full album is great! You can import it on Amazon Van She - V
The Presets - Yippyo-Ay
Saw these guys last week, and really enjoyed it although my hearing was impaired for a good day. I like almost all of their music, but this track is one of my favorites. (iTunes)
